Main Obstacles/issues Of An International Negotiatoon

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi all,

Actually, I am writing a report on international negotiation between three nationalities - Swedish, Brazilian and Indonesian. The main objective for them is the creation of a common joint venture. I dividedy report into three parts: negotioation without intercultural knowledge, set up an intercultural strategy, and negotiation with intercultural knowledge. What should I take in this context take into account especially concerning the topics intercultural problems and creation of a joint venture?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Best Regards
Patrick

You better get some individuals from each of the cultures involved who are willing to give you the input you need. There is no way to have an in-depth understanding of the issues from just one individual. And the specific considerations could vary based on which three cultures you pick, so there may not be a "universal" template you can use for this project.

Whose idea was this topic anyway? Is there a real negotiation about to happen, or is this an academic paper?

    Dear Patrick,

The biggest issues I can see here are linguistic, cultural, and economic.

You're talking about three cultures that may be worlds apart and without some form of intercultural understanding I'd imagine that any negotiations would be difficult if not nigh on impossible.

As for setting up any kind of intercultural strategy, you need to figure out where the whole project is going so that the differing cultures can get out of the deal everything they're expecting to get out of it.

To do this you really do need to talk to people, you really must figure out who needs what, who expects what, and who can contribute what in terms of: brains, man power, finances, executive oversight. logistics, legalities, insurances, management, and division of profits, losses, and responsibilities.

As far as I can tell it's all about figuring out what you want to do, how you want to do it, when you need to do it by, with what funding and directions, and who can help put the relevant pieces into the right slots, thereby creating the whole picture.

    I hope this helps.

Use a Pest analysis on each then map this out to compare side by side.
