Favorite music party. Residents bring their favorite songs to the party. The party "DJ" plays the songs in chronological order from oldest to newest and announces who provided each song.

Baby pictures party. Residents bring baby photos of themselves which are posted at the party, sometimes with clues. Party goers have to guess whose picture is whose. There are prizes for the people who guess the most right. The party theme can match the New Year's baby theme.

New Year's Luck Luncheon. It's a tradition in my family and a popular myth that eating certain foods on New Year's day attracts luck and prosperity in the coming year. Black eye peas bring luck. Greens such as collard greens and turnip greens bring prosperity. You can have a luncheon featuring the traditional good luck foods.
