Developing An App For Architects?!

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm based in the UK, and have a product catalogue out next year with masses of technical info on building products and processes For architects. I want the app to be intuative, full of everything they need to know... But as an App, the last thing I want is for it to be overbearing or dull... Any tips??! All welcome..!

Um, can you clarify this a bit for us? You talk about a catalog (which to me means a printed, but I guess it could also be an online site). Then go right into talking about an app. I am not getting the connection? Please clarify? Is the catalog an app? If so, for what operating system?

Then again, marketing does get involved (or at least should get involved) with product design, but not sure we will be able to provide much info here without a lot more detail from you.

Sorry, it was pretty late when I posted.. Manual is probably a better word than catalogue.... So traditionaly it's always printed and distributed (really expensive) but were looking to mix it up and have an app available as well.

Why not a website devoted to the manual? The key advantage will be people who are looking for the product(s) can find them via search engines. You can also measure (using analytics) what people are searching for, etc.

    Dear White.ben19,

Keep it simple. By this I mean avoid overcomplicating your message or what it is that your app will do.

I'd also suggest you use Twitter and Facebook to track down potential buyers. Here are several Twitter search tools:

A simple website outlining your app, what it does and how it can make life easier, smarter, more profitable etc. will also help you build credibility.

    I hope this helps.

    Great answers... Thanks!
I have sent a hard copy of the manual out to a few App developers who are putting together proposals. Can anyone give me a good example of an App that has impressed them!? Cheers
