Logo Feedback

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
We are a leader in teaching people how to achieve their personal and professional dreams. We are currently in the rebranding process and have had a logo created for us in 2 different versions. We are having a hard time deciding which one to choose the "dark" or "light" version. Would love to gather some feedback. You can view the logos here:

Also at the bottom we included the business card which will actually incorporate both but we need to choose one for the website, blog, etc.

Thank you so much for your feedback.

    Dear Angee,

Logo-wise, the darker one appeals more; it simply has more page presence.

Business card-wise, you're using both sides of the card, which is rare
but great. But why not use some of that real estate on the back (darker side) to offer a few benefits, story points, values obtained from your service, or some other selling point to promote your mission?

If you opt not to do this it's still pretty, but pretty does not offer benefits, which is, after all, what people are looking for. So consider using some of your card's space to tell people how your service will change and significantly improve their lives.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck.

I'm going to disagree with the others here. You can't just look at the two choices and pick. Think ahead to ways you might be using the logo. I always tell people to shrink their logo down very small (1" x 1") and see if you can still read it. Often times your logo will be no more than 1 inch (think letter head/sponsorships).

I can barely read the web address as it is on either logo. I shrunk it down to 1" and can't really make out much definition at all on the lighter version, the graphics stand out a bit more on the darker version but now you've completely lost the web address and it's difficult to read the Dream University text as well.

We used to print out the sample logo options in black and white to see how it would translate when printing for one color, but it's very rare these days someone asks for your logo for black and white printing. With digital printing it's pretty much the same cost to print color as black and white.

You don't need to clutter your card with all sorts of information. Personally I think it looks rather unprofessional to add as much as possible to the card. If people are curious they will visit your website. Just make sure it's easy for them to see the address. Remember, anyone over the age of 40 might not have the best eyesight. You can lose the fax number...if anyone needs to fax you something they can call...fax numbers are very 90s.

If you are using social media for your business give that information out on your card. In some demographics that information is more important than phone numbers.
