Gifting Option For Internal Employees

Posted by vasudev_kamath on 50 Points
Hi Would like to know what would be the best gifting option for the below Internal campaigns which are currently on in our company:-

1) impact : Gifts to be given on launch of the campaign ideally to create awareness so that employees actively participate & get involved in the campaign all through FY:10:11. This campaign is to make them realise that every action they will take has an positive or negative impact on the company's business. Ideally some utility item or souvenir or momemto which should be kept on the desk to remind them each day.

2) Synergy : This campaign on cross functional team work is coming to a close for Fy:09:10, the theme was together we can, together we will. At the close of the campaign we would like to close the campaign by saying YES We Did it. Any ideas on what memento or gifts we could give to the employees who participated in the campaign.

Thanks & Regards,

It's been a long time since I worked in an office environment, but I assume that's what you're talking about.

I do remember that it often gets really warm so a big hand-fan that says THANK YOU on one side and YOU DID IT on the other. This will remain on the desk. People will hold it up to each other...kind of joking around at first but then purposefully...when they want to say thank you.

    Thanks Michael for those inputs,
however in 21st century when offices have central Air conditioners it seems a little akward to give in hand fans.

    Thanks for your inputs though.

A desk calendar (with the company message)
A stack of pennies (glued together) to show small things add up.

Lucky you - these types of projects are so much fun!

My 3 simple rules for gifts to employees (and an idea).

    Make it something of value.
Too many companies try too hard to go as cheap as possible and then send the wrong message when the gift falls apart. Picture a "Quality is Job 1" message on a cheap, broken give-away.

Make it something they will keep and use.
Big floppy hats, giant balloons, and other such items have a great impact for a single day but then get tossed in the trash. If you put your message on something people will wear, your odds of them keeping it and using it go way up, and that is a great way to reinforce your message. We have done pool floats in the summer shaped like our product, and wool hats in the winter to "heat up sales"

Make it reinforce the message if you can.
This is the toughest challenge. T-shirts with the goal are an easy choice. Get a great designer to do something reaaly cool. People will wear great looking items but will shun dorky-looking items.

    An impossible idea.
Try this if you dare - create a big image as part of your campaign and then divide it into X number of tiles that matches the number of employees you have. Find a custom t-shirt maker who will make you X number of full- print custom shirts. Then give out the shirts and let the employees try to arrange themselves to solve your giant human jigsaw puzzle. That will take true synergy and should be fun.

    Good luck.

Dear Jay & the cynical marketer,
Thank you both for your inputs
The stack of pennies & huge t-shirt print sounds exciting, however as you rightly mentioned, when the team size is huge the budget gets shrunken & we are left with nothing but sad things like balloons & danglers which usually land up in the trash.

Any other innovative cost effective ideas do keep your thoughts coming in

    Thanks & Regards,
