Valentine's Day Event Made By A Multiplex Cinema

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I'm trying to organize an event on Valentine's Day for a multiplex cinema. The main prize is a weekend for a couple in a romantic city. My boss doesn't like any of my ideas (slogans) so far:-(. Please help me out in finding the perfect slogan that has never been used before!!!

    Could be loads of fun?

Can you share a few more details, or is that part of the challenge?
    - who can enter?
    - when does the entry period start and end?
    - how will the winner be chosen?
    - how, where, and when will the contest be promoted?
    - about how big is your non-award budget?
    - what is the goal of the promo, e.g. get people to spend Valentine's Day at the movies, or?

    Thanks, JohnnyB

    Hy NuCoPro:-)

Thanks a lot for ur feedback! I already thought of this idea...there's only one important thing missing: we don't have 3D in our multiplex! Imagine that!!!
Plus the time is ticking away (don't u think that I know this by now?!) and I'm running out of options...

    Any other ideas?!

    Hy JohnnyB,

The details u requested are the following:

-there will be a special menu at the candy bar and those who buy this menu will receive a cupon. On that cupon, thay have to write their personal info (name, phone no, e-mail) and put it in a urn.
-the contest will last for 3 weeks period (8-28 Feb)
-after the drawing out (on 5 March) there will be 3 winning couples (because this campaign is national) of a trip in a romantic city (Venice, Rome, Paris)
-regarding the budget...to small to even think about it:-)

    So, now what?!?

I have seen bigger promos done in less time, but not very often…

I like the idea and think it can work really well, so here are some thoughts that I hope will help you. There are 4 important issues to address first, and a bunch of other small ones.

    1. What are you trying to accomplish, other than satisfying the request of your boss? :) Typically, one does a promotion to change behavior, e.g. get people to go to MickyD’s instead of BK because they want to win the Monopoly game. I am not sure what you will gain beyond goodwill unless you promote your giveaway outside of the theaters and use it to draw more people.

    2. I think the romantic getaway is perfect. There are a lot of couples who go to the movies on a first date (or second, etc) and the theme of turning a romantic evening into a romantic week/getaway is a great way to tie that together. It will also support your message that the theater is the best place to go on a date.

    3. You must explore the legal issues involved in this so you do not accidentally run an illegal gambling operation. You must give everyone a chance to enter your drawing without making a purchase. If you do not, then it is gambling and it is illegal. You mentioned that the entry info would be on the concession counter. This must be accessible to people who have not purchased a movie ticket.

    4. You will need a lawyer to properly craft your legal disclaimer and tell you how to properly disclose it. Even the basics are daunting and include things like no substitutes, no cash equivalent, no rebooking, entrants must be over 18, winners are responsible for taxes (this can be a lot), winners release you from legal liability for accidents related to their trip, and of course the right for the theater to use their likeness/pictures in future promotions for the theater.

This may be why they say love hurts…

    Best of Luck, JohnnyB.
