YES, you can buy a Twitter account. They are for sale on eBay occasionally but the last sale was for 5,000 followers at $40. This reflects the value of the accounts and the followers.

In reality you are simply looking for twitter addresses to spam. The people followed an account with one intention and you are taking over that account for the purposes of sending them your unsolicited messages as advertising.

I strongly urge you to reconsider how you approach your marketing. Adding value to the relationship with your customers and prospects is the best way to create lasting value. This creates repeat customers and word of mouth. These are the best way to get new customers because you don't need to pay for them.

Why would you want to do this? It's no different to buying a mailing list, which, unless the list is segmented to EXACTLY the right audience your product or service is aimed at is never a great idea.

Again and again people mistake the world of social media as meaning that more is better in terms of the size of the list, following, or number of friends and connections. NO IT'S NOT! You want quality and relevance.

The best way to build a list is to offer great content that's aimed at the people you want to reach. The object here is to create a congruent bridge between what you offer and the desired outcome of the lead, prospect, or customer.

Social media is NOT about selling: it's about being social, which means it's about people and forming lasting, meaningful relationships.
