Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points

Who are the trendsetters in your opinion? Are you reading blogs, watching videos, reading magazines, etc. that show images that these people are creating? Are you investigating what other urban stores in other cities and countries are stocking to ensure you're not missing something?

The big department stores do this by send buyers on trips overseas to find out not just what's coming out in the big collections, but what's going on in other marketplaces.

For example, and I don't know where your shop is, but imagine what you might find if you did a boutique shopping trip to say Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris, Zurich, Hong Kong? You might need to do that once a year to shop for samples, see how they fare in your store, then make arrangements with suppliers to ship stock to you during the next twelve months based on what sells well.

Have very limited runs of special products, accessories, etc. That way the product maintains its cachet, and people will get accustomed to impulse buying what you have when they see it sure in the knowledge next time it will be gone.

Where is your store located? If it's located near a hospital, why not sell attractive scrub suits? Try to look around you and observe the people walking by your store every now and then so you'll an idea of what to add in your store. Let those creative juices flow!

    Good luck!
