Marketing A Book To The Healthcare Industry

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
This summer, our small publishing, conference, research company will publish its first book for the healthcare market.

Written by a doc/exec, it’s a case study about how a healthcare organization in the Midwest adapted improvement principles from industry to improve quality, care, and morale while cutting costs.

As communications director, I’ll pitch the book to healthcare trade media, including social media contacts and outlets. Because healthcare is so current, I’ll include consumer media book reviewers. We’ll sell hard and kindle copies on Amazon and approach book stores, medical associations, and trade conference organizers. Does anyone know of other healthcare channels? ( sell directly to insurance and pharma companies?) I feel I’m leaving stones unturned in this new market for us. Appreciate your advice.

Let me recommend John Kremer's book, 1001 Ways to Market Your Books. It's available on Amazon.com and in most major bookstores in the United States.

    My two cents...
    1. Get a booth at any upcoming healthcare exhibition or conference. or arrange with the committee to promote your book with a fee.
    2. Write a summary of the book in your blog/website if you have one.

There are many writing societies/guilds. Have the author join at least one, and network with published authors. They're almost always glad to share what's worked for them, marketing-wise. You also may want to read Guerilla Marketing for Writers by Jay Conrad Levinson. Excellent book on book promotion.
