Sell To Consumers And/or Stores

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have certificate for bottling. I had taken FDA approved course and passed.
I cannot find a reliable kitchen in our area, Dutchess county, NY. I am not happy with the one we have here.
Can I make sauce at home kitchen, bottle and sell? I know, I should get insurance.

Thank you

Ann

It's a local licensing issue. In general, you need a commercial kitchen to sell commercial products (and of course, insurance as well as forming an LLC or incorporating your business). If you can't find a commercial kitchen, how about using a restaurant during its "off-hours"?

    Home production:

Call your local health department and explain your goals. Most of these will educate you on the requirements and walk you through the process.

Get insurance - it's better to be safe than sorry if anything happens you're covered... Listen to me - please...
