Getting Organized

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
As a busy a marketing professional - who is also responsible for biz development - I'm finding it hard to stay organized. I meet with the principals of the company on a weekly basis. Hardly enough time to execute one project- before I need to implement another. That being said, I'm looking for some tips on staying organized.

This may sound a little bit outside the box, but...

I'm a visual person. If I can SEE it, I can remember it. Kinda' semi-eidetic.

I use "Inspiration" software to build a QUICK diagram of my schedule, projects, etc. There's a "Rapid Fire" feature that allows one to just type the contents of a symbol, hit enter and it spins off a symbol.

Anyway... I find my life a WHOLE lot easier to manage from these diagrams and I can spit one out in just a couple of minutes.

Dunno' if this helps you, but it works for me...

Ok...don't laugh. I still use spiral notebooks. Why? Because when I started I had so many from my kids who refused to use USED ones the next school year...regardless of how many empty pages were left.

I have a different one for each client. When a page is completely filled and acted on...I rip it out and pitch it.

At the client meeting I bring out my Tigger (or whatever)notebook and go thru past notes and discussions...that they don't even remember.

    I said don't laugh.

    Sorry...

    LMAO

Because I do the same thing...

I keep a legal pad by the phone and mark each pad with an "open date & a close date". I got these puppies filed and going back to the early 80s. All phone numbers and notes go into these "on the fly".

I should have been more specific in my reply. The Inspiration diagrams are used for my CURRENT activities and scheduling. It's moreless my "Action Plan", reminding me where I need to be when, why, and to show up with what. And I diagram my ongoing projects.

BOTH these help, the legal pad and the diagrams. They complement each other very well.

    Gopher it !

Try to keep it simple while you're growing - sales staff hate allot of paper work but you need to keep them honest maybe a sector book which where they one blinder of where they have been and who they will be visiting in the future. Maybe have idea of goals - write those down - so you don't off your the path.
