Tips On How Do I Increase More Sales On My Site??

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi I recently launched www.retro-jet.com an online shop selling vintage airline bags about 3 months ago. I was after some advice as how I can convert the visits into sales. The site currently gets about 60 views a day, but conversions into sales aren’t as large as I expected – it’s currently about 4 a month and I was expecting at least 30 per month based on the daily traffic. I think the prices of the products are fair and the site is self explanatory, attractive, and simple. I've advertised in Aviation magazines, and on online aviation sites, where I assumed my main core of buyers would come from. Is there perhaps something on the site that is missing that could potentially create more buyers. Any ideas to help boost the number of sales are welcome.

    Hi Patrick -
one quick thought is to add another couple of bags to your home page, the FB, free shipping and payment logos are way to prominent (folks have made it to your site, why encourage them to go to FB) if those were lower/smaller it would allow for more bags to be displayed and perhaps the text, which falls below the fold in Safari, would become visible (I think text or 'the story' is naturally engaging)
secondarily, it's not rapidly clear how you are using 'retro' - are the bags new but with original logos (if so, what are they made of?) or are they the actual bags discovered in a long lost warehouse?
Hope that is of some value - if you'd like to chat you can reach me at MikeWolpert@gmail.com or skype; mikewolpert

You have 2 problems: traffic volume and conversions (visitors -> sales). Focus on the latter first - when people visit, why don't they buy? Did they arrive at the wrong website (because of a confusing name, like Phil suggests)? Did they get confused on your home page and didn't keep clicking? Did they order and then abandon it before buying? Are they looking for images of attractive people carrying them? Are they wanting to know if these are old bags being sold or old logos being used on new bags? Are you tracking where people are coming from (i.e., have a different web link in ads for different trade magazines/sites)? Are you using the right keywords so people using a search engine can find you easily?

Once you can increase your conversions, then work on increasing your traffic volume.
