The best strategy is the one that works for your target market, your budget, and your company's offering.

Thank you for all your responses. I have just started a small gardening service oriented business catering to residences in our neighborhood. It is basically a very small start up business.

Ok.. Sales 101, people buy from either pain or pleasure. So you are going to solve the pain of gardening yourself and create the pleasure of a beautiful lawn. For this biz, I like door hangers. Every time you are in front of a home, make sure your truck is clean and professionally shows your name. Get involved with some community beautification projects.

Get some books on guerrilla marketing-- you'll find plenty of low or no cost marketing tactics that will get you launched.
