Figure out what's remarkable about the store that's worth people talking about it, referencing it, and regularly checking out the store's various social media sites (Facebook, etc.).

I was thinking of creating some ad's on twitter with landing pages of latest things or sales. Facebook, can be a great way of creating a community and gather feedback and so on.

    What do you guys think?

    Dear Marka,

My gut reaction is to avoid ads.

In social media, by all means give people useful information,
but avoid outright selling or promotion just for the sake of promotion and selling. Why? Because way too many other people are doing the SAME THING, which, after a while, makes them invisible because their message stops having an effect.

Their messages just bore people and bored shoppers do not buy.
Do you really want bored shoppers? Probably not.

So, consider using a "Useful food fact of the day" or a "Did you know ...?" post, or something like this that engages people by interesting them. Use health facts, shipping facts, growing facts, processing facts, ingredient facts ... all kinds of things like that that surprise people.

When you surprise people you WIN THEIR ATTENTION.

You can also use this tactic to drive traffic to a blog where, in exchange for their name and e-mail address, your customers
can get a discount coupon valid for that week for in store use.

This then gives you an extra avenue to promote to via e-mail with ultra exclusive offers, AND it helps drive traffic to your brick and mortar store, AND it sets up expectation, curiosity, and anticipation which creates rapport: your customers then begin looking for the food trivia facts, which creates engagement.

Engaged shoppers get involved and they tell their friends ... so social media helps drive momentum.

And if you invite followers to invite other followers in exchange
for something of value to them, you build your list and spread the news about your site and offers all the more.

Here's the point: of the following lead ins, which works better to arouse curiosity?

"Candy sale: 2 for the price of 1. Click here!"

    OR

"10 Things You Never Knew About Dark Chocolate ... Click here!"

    OR

"Strawberries: 2 for the price of 1. ... Click here"

    OR

"5 Ways Strawberries Can Beat Skin Cancer ... Click here"

    See the difference?

    I hope this helps.
