Recommendations For Web Design Firms (dc Area)

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We're a small business intelligence consulting firm looking for a web design firm in the Washington DC area to redesign our corporate site. Are there suggestions for firms that would work with smaller (read "limited budget") companies. Ideally they would have SEO expertise and the ability to build out interactive features (e.g. a pre-qualifcation survey places respondents somewhere on a map of business intelligence maturity).

You are limiting yourself needlessly by requiring a local presence in DC. If you can find the right firm elsewhere, there's no reason not to engage them.

The key to a successful project will be in the quality and thoroughness of your Creative Brief ... and that's true wherever your developer is located. Spend the time getting the Creative Brief right and you'll be glad you did.

Relevant question: What's the purpose of your corporate site? What are you trying to accomplish with it? How will you measure the success/effectiveness of the website design project?

thanks mgoodman. I know it's the kind of thing that could be done just about anywhere, but the owners of the company have a real preference for the ability to sit across a table from someone. Great point re creative brief, and the main purpose of the site is to support lead generation (so metrics such as search rankings and number of visitors who provide contact information would be how we measure success)

    Adrian,
Craigslist. Tons of small firms (read: inexpensive) advertise there. Respond to 10 of 15 of them. Tell them what you want and ask for sample work. It's basically an RFP process.

Get down to 2 or 3 and then bring in the owners.

    Michael
