Social Bookmarking Links: Your Thoughts?

Posted by Craig.Dowley on 125 Points
Are you using Share This, Add This, or similar tools on your site? Are they working for you?

How do you measure success?

I’m looking for informal assessments or opinions on experiences with these, as well as on “Follow us” links that point to company Twitter profiles or Facebook pages.

Using social bookmarking can be very powerful. You can track the results in Google Analytics.

    Some words of advice:
-Distinguish your business user name from your personal user name, so people who "follow" you in social bookmarking sites receive the info they are looking for and not other clutter.

-All the social bookmarking sites are slight different, but success depends on distinguishing yourself within the categories. Use keywords in your descriptions. Create posts that will create conversation, even if its just on the bookmarking site. That will add to views on your site.

-I personally like "Add This" as it provides its own analytics report.

-ALWAYS include your "follow me" information somewhere on the site. I see them all over websites, but my personal favorite locations is at the top right (leaving top left space for advertising). I see lots of larger businesses leaving it at the very bottom of the page, but I just don't think that's effective if your building any kind of social presence.

    Good luck!

-Book marking sites are "social" sites onto themselves. Follow others and engage as much as possible.

Social bookmarking is the active online marketing strategy now days.
Look you place a button 'share it' on your blog, article or any content then every visitor who look at it can share your information online to other places like facebook, twitter and etc.
So its means impressions are increasing and the probability of getting more traffic increases. So that's why marketers use this. I too have this button on my site and I am feel happy while seeing my articles and blogs on facebook, twitter, digg, stumble upon, reddit, mix, my space and many others.
For exactly getting to know who you check the effectiveness of social bookmarketing, you need to create account for 'Google Analytics' then after, you can easily see the changes in your site traffic and referrals too, every single site that refer to you.
    Thanks
