Where Do You Go To Get The Low Down?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
As we all know, there are numerous social media sites that include online forums like this one and they continue to pop up day after day. I, myself, have enjoyed looking at infographics on Digg.com, answering and participating in discussion on LinkedIn and read numerous articles and blogs on marketing sites like MarketingProfs.

My question to my fellow marketers..where do you look for information when you are looking for an answer to your problem? Marketing profs? LinkedIn? Facebook? Twitter? Digg?

Appreciate your thoughts and insight.

My first resource is usually MarketingProfs. I'm a digital marketing professional and a Pro member of MarketingProfs so there aren't a lot of challenges I face that I can't find at least some type of information on this site... Whether in the public or Pro members-only sections.

My secondary resources are more specific sites run by subject matter experts. For example, if I have an SEO question I go to SEOMoz.com, if I have a web analytics question I visit Avinash Kaushik's blog or the Google Analytics blog. For other marketing-related challenges I look to places like Hubspot and AdAge for information.

And of course... Twitter. I'll run a search for keywords around the specific challenges I'm facing to find articles, resources, and blogs that I may not have found through a standard Google search.

Also - My RSS reader is full of marketing-related blogs. Below I've included a sample of some of the blogs I follow on a regular basis to "Get The Low Down". Let me know if you would like the full list:
    - Seth Godin's Blog
    - AdAge
    - Brass Tack Thinking
    - Copyblogger
    - Entrepreneur.com
    - Fast Company
    - Google Webmaster Central
    - Hubspot's Blog
    - Marketing Over Cofee
    - Marketing Profs (of course!)
    - Outspoken Media
    - SEOMoz
    - WebInkNow
    - DuctTapeMarketing
    - CorporateRadical.com

    Hope this helps,

Depends on the area of the question.

If it is marketing specific, of course MarketingProfs is a first choice.

If it is related to a specific field of expertise that some of my ex-colleagues may have, I'd go to Facebook. Linkedin should also work, but I rarely use that nowadays.

Google is also my friend, if I feel like finding the answer on my own.

    Dear cpappas,

    I use the following:

    www.Google.com
    www.socialmediatoday.com
    www.ChrisBrogan.com
    www.Mashable.com
    www.quantcast.com
    www.themarketingmoron.com

I also bounce ideas off friends on Facebook, and I ask questions on a few private, subscription only forums.

    I hope this helps.
