Interior Color For Mom & Pop Grocery/butcher Shop

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
We have a grocery/butcher shop in a conservative town that has had the same wall colors for 30+ years (Yellow, lime green, blue and orange).

I want to update it but do not want to use the same color everyone else seems to be using (pale green). Suggested colors?

We have a small amount of wall space that is actually visible, so I would like to paint all four walls the same color. White drop ceiling, natural cement floors, florescent lighting, approximately 2900 square feet, no overhead signage. Our logo is red, black and white.

Thank you for your assistance.

No one can tell you what colors to choose better than your selves.
As you have mentioned being in a conservative town with limited choice, what about having walls painted with pictures depicting culture, famous stories of your town. This would get your store acceptance.
You could certainly try newer shades in the colors you specified with various patterns. You can try embossing also.
    Hope this helps.

Is this really a marketing problem, or is it an interior design problem? Why ask us?

I think it is a marketing problem because if interior is not appealing,
customers will not want to come back. Trying to avoid current customers saying how horrible the new colors are, want them to tell people how wonderful it looks with new colors.

Yellow, lime green, blue and orange sounds like you are trying to attract a particular kind of audience. I would have thought that what customers value in a grocery/butcher store would be freshness, cleanliness, light, sweet-smelling and obvious high levels of hygiene.

Stick with a very light grey/neutral to white palate with stainless steel splashbacks and benches in the butchery area.

Pay close attention to lighting and make sure the place is bright and clean.

Colour accents can be provided with product - let the product be the hero - and with the store logo out front and around the customer service areas.

Pale green sounds like it would be perfect for a morgue. Not what I'm looking for when I visit the butchery or grocery store.
