Creating A Business Facebook Account

Posted by Anonymous on 1000 Points
Opened a personal Facebook account. Not using it. Know that I can't have business and a personal one. My question is can I switch from personal one to business one? If not, can I keep personal one closed and then open a business one? Is it possible that having opened a personal one, I can't ever have a business one by doing what I've previously considered?

Hopefully this is not too complicated. Appreciate your advice.

There are no easy answers when it comes to Facebook for business. Because it was not designed for commercial use, everything is being invented in real time, and it changes week-to-week.

This is complicated by the fact that Facebook is tangled up in privacy issues -- particularly based on some clever marketers who have pushed the envelope.

Your best bet is to go to https://www.perrymarshall.com/13119/facebook-marketing/ and sign up for the course. (There's some free stuff too, but the real value is in the course.) They keep everything current, and it's a high quality operation ... worth the price of admission.

P.S. Perry Marshall is in Chicago, not far from you!

Facebook is based on email addresses. If you have 100 email addresses you can have 100 facebook pages.

I suggest you keep your personal account and just simply create a business page (fan page or group), unless you're OK with not having access to view profiles of users.

    Here's why...

    From Facebook:
Business accounts are designed for individuals who only want to use the site to administer Pages and their ad campaigns. For this reason, business accounts do not have the same functionality as personal accounts. Business accounts have limited access to information on the site. An individual with a business account can view all the Pages and Social Ads that they have created, however they will not be able to view the profiles of users on the site or other content on the site that does not live on the Pages they administer. In addition, business accounts cannot be found in search and cannot send or receive friend requests.
