Seasonal Messages

As the holiday season approaches, I'm curious about industry best practice for incorporating a seasonal message into newsletters. For companies with an international audience - is it acceptable to include a seasonal message - even though some readers may not celebrate the event?

I'm sure there will be a range of opinions on this, almost all of which might be correct in different circumstances. As a general rule, however, I would recommend only a "Happy Holidays" message, or a "Happy New Year" message. As soon as you start enumerating the various holidays, you're probably going to be stepping on thin ice with someone. Why do that to yourself?

Besides, referencing Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa -- plus New Year -- makes for a real mouthful, and it doesn't add any significant depth of meaning vs. "Happy Holidays."
