Increasing Event Attendance And Fast

Posted by doggie1979 on 500 Points
We are hosting a free event in a few weeks. Started marketing it about 1 month ago. Goal is 100 people and we are at 50. It is a one-day event on a customer campus where we are mainly providing thought leadership and expert sessions, not sales pitches. The event was well-received last year and so we have doubled our attendance goal this year.

We have done the press release, posting some things on social media, e-marketing plan (wide-scale), email signatures used by all staff, website banner, and are about to start a more targeted push this week to prospects within a 5 hour driving distance of the event.

I need more ideas for other things we can do quickly and without much money to get the remaining 50 attendees confirmed. If anyone has some bright creative marketing approaches to quickly secure event attendance at a FREE event please share.

Offer free food and prizes...it always work. Even if it is snacks and refreshments and small gift cards. Perhaps a sponsor or 2 can help finance these?

Send our PSA to your local newspaper "coming events" column.

Keep using social media - it's an ongoing process not a 10shot deal. Encourage "sharing".

Targeted direct mail based on geo-targeting or email based on membership gorups of related and applicabel associations.

Contact local chamber of commerce and business associations to send an email blast to members.

Email your existing registrants and inform them on a "bring a buddy" promotion. If they bring a buddy, their name is entered into a draw for an Ipad or ?

Post info to related and applicable blogs, forums, dsicussion boards, chat rooms, etc..

Are you advertising on Goolge, Facebook and YouTube?

Posters up at local shoppingmalls, libraries and rec. centers.

Exchange a cross-promotion with another related business who gets lots of traffic to their website and/or locaiton.

Attend business networking events and spread the word WOM.

Thanks, these are great. I am going to jump right on the geo-targeted, bring a buddy and continue to look for online communities to promote this within. Much appreciated!
