How do we get our customers (small contractors) to use our website when they are inexperienced in using the internet. What should our strategy be for our website? They are still in fax and snail mail. Even if we build it they won't come. What do we need to do to get them come to the website?

    Hello naomib,

Let me ask you why you want them to use your website. Will it be cheaper for you to serve them or you can offer them this way faster and better service?

The best way to make somebody do something is to motivate them. What would be the best motivation for your customers?
Some extra discount for using your website, some added service you offer only for your online customers?

Same question as adammjw: Why do you want them to come to the website?

It seems to me that if their preference is fax and snail mail, then you should be using fax and snail mail. They are YOUR customers, right? If you were THEIR customer, then you might tell them that you only want to do business via their website. But that's not the case, so instead of trying to change the world to fit the model in your mind, try adapting your own approach to be most comfortable and convenient for your customers.

How long before they adopt the web? The key is to be where they want you, when they want you.

Go with a very simple website. Fill-in forms in case the son's join the contractors and want to work that way.
