Tracking Commissions

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
My wife would like to make marketing calls from home for a service related industry to promote their parts website. The idea is for here to give the prospect a discount code that they would enter on the website when they place an order, and in turn she would receive her commission based on that code entered. If she enters into a relationship with Company ABC, how can she know they are paying her correct/honest commissions since she does not know when orders are being placed with her code?

If she doesn't trust Company ABC to track, report and pay her commissions properly, how can she trust them to deliver customers' orders? Would she sell products for a company that she didn't trust?

Totally agree with mgoodman, if she doesn't trust they will report correctly, how can she do business with the company. There is always the possibility of asking the customer to copy her on any orders (which they might do) telling them this allows her to follow up and provide the level of service they should expect.

This is like a typical affiliate program (not knocking affilate marketing) but you cannot prevent people from forgetting to add the code or entering it wrong.

Shoot for an agreement that is based on a list of zip codes. That way if the person makes a mistake, she keeps it.

I know people who have done this and lost commissions and spent hours trying to track it down. Just keep that in mind. You are depending on the company to tell you when someone orders.
