Facebook For A Personal Injury Attorney

Posted by prczar on 250 Points
I may be working with a personal injury attorney who is considering starting a Facebook page but he is unsure of what messages would be most appropriate to post. He knows they can't all be about him. What types of posts do you think would be most appropriate? His Facebook audience is potentially anyone — not other attorneys. Ideas?

He could develop content (video and writing) that explains the process of filing a personal injury case, how to evaluate if someone has a good case, how to select an attorney, and the like.

This kind of useful information is not too salesy and in keeping with a professional image.

It would probably make sense to zero in on examples and situations that are specific to the state(s) in which he practices.

Information for people who have never dealt directly with the legal system would probably be useful. (What Steve said.)

I know many people who think the answer to any "injury" is a law suit...as if people aren't able to work things out between themselves.

(Sorry about the soap box) A good place to start might be setting expectations. Clearly the goal is not to give legal advice but reposting of articles about foolish lawsuits will help people decide if it's worth the cost of an attorney.

Can he regularly link to others' content about problems/solutions for personal injury (avoiding problems, resolving them easily, choosing an attorney, etc.)?

"His Facebook audience is potentially anyone ..."

    NOT IT'S NOT.

He's not offering services to EVERYONE and if either of you think that's the case you've been sold wooly minded nonsense that can and will do more marketing harm than good because it's a recipe for disaster.

He needs to show how he's helped people, how other legal cases have helped other people, and how his services and abilities, and how his knowledge of the law can protect the self interest of the people he serves.

@ Gary Bloomer - All I meant by "his Facebook audience is potentially anyone" is that it''s possible for anyone to get in some type of accident or have a situation occur in which one might consider working with a personal injury attorney. That is not to say that everyone who does get in an accident will seek legal help.
