Starting A B2b Service - Chicken And Egg?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi there,

I'm looking to start a marketing agency, with a niche angle. I'm pretty clear on where to find both clients and advertisers, but I'm concerned that after I get clients on board, it could be some time before I get advertisers to run a campaign... and therefore, clients might lose interest or change their mind, and I'd have advertisers stranded.

I'm just not sure how to get this kind of business together, so that I can bring both parties together at the same time... and make sure people don't back out (particularly clients.)

    Nick,

I would suggest that you find somebody outside your area who is running a similar business who can coach you through the process. The quickest way to fail at a business is to not know how to get the business together. Typically when you start a marketing agency, you are going to find the advertisers (your clients) you will develop the creative for them, and then you contact the media that you want to use for placement and get quotes from them.

Your client is the company that needs the marketing service, your vendor is the company who is providing the service to you for a fee, they will not lose interest or pull out.

I hope this is of use to you.

I'm kind of confused -- your clients are??? What type of "campaign" would you run with clients and issues with advertisers? My initial questions are like those of Andy's, but maybe we are missing something?
