Standard Rate For Consultation With Marketing Pro

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Good Morning!

The production shop I work in is having a marketing professional come in to do some "creative development" for one, 8-hour, day. The intent is that he will look at our capabilities and products and give us ideas on ways we can enhance our products, ideas and any other advice he can offer. It's expected to be more of a "working group" or brainstorm session more than anything else.

However, he has never done anything before, and neither side is sure how much our shop should pay him for this. Does anyone know of an industry standard for something like this? Or a place I can find a standard?

Thanks!!

PS. He was also a producer on a pretty big movie in the 90s and still does work on lesser-known films today...

I presume that the person providing consultancy is very close and friendly with you. Anyhow, it would be always good to fix up the consultancy charges well in the advance in such business dealings.

Now, ask this person what he expects as consultancy charges. If you think his consultancy was useful for you in your business and his demand is reasonable just pay that. If you think the charges expected is high, negotiate with him.

If you think, it would be worthwhile to continue to engage him, fix up the charges for further sessions.
