I am a Swedish student looking at the market in the US for garden clothing and some equipment - specifically for women. (Really pretty and functional garden clothes, high end) We have found that small boutiques are the biggest market for the products we sell and I am now trying to see the best way to get in to the market here and I would love to get some feedback on small independent women boutiques.
So, for women boutiques:
What does the following look like:
• Size and depth of market.
• General characteristics of store fronts
• Ownership
• Product assortments
• Stores view on consumers trends/habits
Research buying patterns:
• When and how stores make their purchases.
• Seasonal patterns
• Buyers shows – direct and/or distributors
• Collect feedback from proprietors, managers, purchasing managers wants/needs. Customer expectations. Ordering habits and other useful info.
Marketing
• Advertising trends
• Trade shows – which are visited etc.
• Distributors
• Marketing channels: web, blog, PR, prints
• Clothing shows
• Web stores: Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc.
I know this is a TON of questions - but any feedback you have would be helpful - even if it is only on one topic.
Thank you!
