How Do I Put Together A Media List For A Charity?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm attempting to put together a national media list for a charity which would like to begin sending out press releases more broadly in the US for the least amount possible. Our PR budget is VERY limited which confines us to working "in-house." We're currently using Xpedite to send out a limited amount of press releases to selected media outlets who we've built relationships with but would like to do more. We're looking at various media list providers but frankly all the options make our heads swin! We want basic sending and online clipping services and would love to get some analysis of our coverage... Your recommendations and suggestions for how to select the most bang for our (non-existent) buck would be most helpful!

About a week ago, someone asked a question here about press release venues. You might want to check out the thread because there were a lot of good suggestions (including mine) that might be helpful to you.

Added to what was talked about above (and in the other message thread), one manual way is to go to media of interest's web sites and collect information about who their editors or appropriate contacts are. They often list right on the sight who to send press releases to.

For example, I looked up the business magazines and business sections of the newspapers in my area and have a list of all of their contact information, which I use to send press releases.

I agree with thinkmor ... https://www.prweb.com is worth a look.
