Enhance Procedures To Eliminate Bottlenecks

I have a couple of questions that I don't know who else I could ask them but you. I have been asked these questions from an interviewer's side, I really didn't know how to answer them properly. I really appreciate any advice that you can offer regarding knowing more about them and answering them as well. I'll be posting everyone of them in separated post.

The question:

How to enhance a company's procedures *to eliminate bottlenecks.

N.B: I've came to know from the interviewer that the company needs to penetrate new markets in both Egypt and outside Egypt, design new products, and restructuring the company's structure and this is the reason behind recruiting new candidates. I believe that this is the problem when it comes to the company. In this case, what should one do

    Thank you for your beneficial answers. But in regards to the case at hand, how one can enhance procedures to eliminate bottlenecks as much as he can.

    Time management, JIT [Just In Time] supply, streamlining of requests to the point where the bottlenecks occur, fewer steps and decision points needed to clear the bottlenecks [employee autonomy].

    Thank you all for your beneficial reply.

    Onetime I found that our production team wasn't producing the product as it should be produced (We were needing a product to live up to our and our client's expectations for it) and this where I come in in where, I talked to them, giving them more insights about the project and its importance and its scope. I'm not only content with that I have also given them more guidelines from my experience to be applied so that the product might be produced in a way that we desire. We have all succeeded in not only meting our client expectations but also exceeding their expectation.

    Is this can be considered enhancing company's procedures to eliminate bottlenecks?

    Hi Economist,

    Well, There are lot of activities which are planned at one go and all are interrelated. Things can not happen overnight and bottlenecks will be there on the way always. There is no organization in the world without any bottleneck. one or another bottleneck becomes prominent during the journey of an organization.

    Now, the first step, in closing down the bottlenecks and doing the org change, is to analyse the current situation. What you are, where you want to go and what is the gap. Then comes the SWOT analysis. You need experts from operations management. Entering in to new market and launching new product / service line requires operations expert, financial experts, Supply chain experts and marketing experts. And do remember, as i said earlier, it's not a overnight job, it takes months and some time years. depending upon the organization.

    You have to have a quality control and steering control over all the activities during this period to identify all the bottlenecks and resolve them. Sometimes the bottlenecks becomes so problematic that you have to change your entire strategy. Be ready for that.

    The only question that I have is that is the case above can be considered enhancing company procedures to eliminate bottlenecks?
