Need Marketing Strategy To Help Sell Hoarder Inv

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
I have a financial need to get rid of several containers full of new merchandise that I have acquired over the years of being addicted to buying closeouts and bargain wholesale deals. I used to be a ebay profitable seller, but I got bored and tired of it. But I never sold alot of things and just hoarded them for years. I have finally admitted to myself when I had to move and pay for storage, that I have a serious problem. I am a perfect candidate for that show Hoarders, but I am too embarrassed to go on national tv about my compulsion for shopping. However, I need help with how to market a webpage I am setting up that will have no prices, but will allow all my friends and their friends to just offer me a price for my items that would make them happy. I want to get rid of things "garage sale" style....no heavy haggling....no prices marked...just best offer. What would be a clever way to market this...while bringing attention to me coming out the closet about my disorder. I need my friends help to clear these things out that I have been just storing and attached to for so many years. I want them and their friends to enjoy my deals. I want to start a facebook campaign to have them and their friends look at my online garage sale. Want to be funny about situation, but stress the urgency to get rid of this stuff fast!

why don't you do a facebook store. This is an article of the top stores https://socialcommercetoday.com/top-50-facebook-stores-top-20-facebook-stor..., but I think payvment is the top one.

That way you can combine the social aspect with selling. Congrats on losing the hoarding and best of luck.

Yes that is what I want to do...a facebook store, but with no prices...I want them to offer me their best price! So set up more like a online garage sale. I need help on how to market this concept in a email to my friends to jumpstart the help I need.

Why not open an eBay store, with a very minimal price. Let the market decide what they're willing to pay, and have the same service help you resell what you bought and no longer want.

I really like the opportunity on the hard times you have with you. The problem is that you want this solution to get rid of your stock rather than making it a regular profitable business.

So here is the cheap option, go to ebay and put it on auction. - this is a cheaper option. You mentioned in your post that you are fed up of selling on ebay.

Second option which is a little expensive but would work better on the format you want to. Set up a small shopping portal with the auction feature. Connect it withyour facebook page and promote it to your friends. Marketing of this would be made easy for you by your friends and their friends and so on...

You can look for shopping carts like 3D cart, bigcommerce etc.

    Hope this will help you.

Thanks all for your responses, but I guess I am not clear on my request. I am not selling on ebay anymore. I don't want to be bothered with listing fees and dealing with alot of random people. I am tryiing to get marketing ideas for how to generate a buzz with my facebook e-commerce store that is also free. No prices....just pics and my contact info. Anybody have marketing suggestions on how to plug this campaign?

(Aside: If you get some buzz about your Facebook store, won't you also be dealing with a lot of random people as well?)

Given your background, it would make sense to pitch your story to local media to get some publicity about you and your offering. However, since you're embarrassed about your situation, it sounds like you don't want to share anything about yourself and simply want to sell stuff quickly. And the best way sounds like the straightforward way - email people (or share it with your FB friends) about your upcoming "online garage sale", with some great descriptions of what you're selling and why they should buy from you.

There's a way with ecommerce sites where users can "make a bid" it requires more manual engagement on your end. You need to find a solid web developer. Have a sick seo campaign.
