Business Plan Help.

Posted by Anonymous on 75 Points
Hello Readers,

I am opening a staffing company which revolves around the automotive trade. Now I am a little immature when it comes to business preparation, being my first company I want to make the most out of all the tools provided. I dont really understand the concept of a business plan, or really how to make one. Hopefully, this is where you come into play. I'm looking for some professional advice on a step-by-step on not only making a business plan, but making a great one. I am only 19 years old, but have seen and made quite a substantial amount of money on the side with temporary staffing and have decided to go forward with the market. I am in Michigan and would like someone who can really help me understand the basics of creating a successful business (now I understand that you can not make my company successful but am looking for the recipe). I have read articles online and spoke briefly with other business owners, I have tried the whole business plan template idea, but if you dont know what your supposed to be doing, its a little hard to fill in the blanks.

Thank you all for your help.

Sincerest Regards.

First - a strong suggestion would be to get the book I talk about in this blog post: https://expandabroad.blogspot.com/2005/08/start-up-book-recommendation.html. It covers writing a business plan, and much more, in plain English.

Below is the template I use for business plans. What I do is take that template, put it in a Word file, and then start filling in what I know. Once I get finished with what I know, I then figure out how to fill in as many of the blanks I have left.

Context (Background of business, Who are the customers)

    1.

Corporate Objectives (Short term and long term objectives – measurable)
    • Short-Term:
    o
    • Long-Term – growth options/exit strategy
    o

Market Analysis (Brief description of market, major influencers, competitors, etc.)
    • (insert brief description of market here)
    • Why I believe there is a market for my service
    o
    • Competitors – direct and indirect competitors.
    o
    • Target Customer:
    o
    • Benefits of my service:
    o

    Marketing Plan (4-Ps, channels)
    • Product
    • Price
    • Place
    • Promotion

    Operations Plan

Financial Plan (refer to the Appendixes)

Management (who, brief summary of their background, etc.)

Ownership of Organization (business structure, ownership, etc.)
