Hi and well done for sorting something out for yourself.

This is going to take some imagination on your part. Take a look at what everyone is selling, take notes of what they sell - and who they sell it to. Just hang around outside for half an hour outside with a coffee or something. Do this for the passing cyclists too, note what they sell and who they sell it to.

Take all your notes and work out what people are NOT selling. Also the character of the people they sell things to will give you an idea of who they don't serve.

Because this is your niche. Aim there, and there is no competition. For a while at least ;-)

May I ask why "De Winkels" and not "De Winkel"?

Let us know a little more, and we will come up with some more ideas. Moriarty xx

I know how is hard to sell the clothing product at there.. but my little research, they want to buy some merchandise from my city, such a batik motive shirt, a casual t-shirt what good for tropical environment or good for walk to discover the city or leathers product like a wallet, bags or shoes if the price is make sense.. I visiting that stores and make some conversation with some tourist who enjoy their beers in a bar they said they haven't find a good shirt with a friendly price.

Thank you for the quick response :)

    Dear Mr. Moriarty
When I was googling, De Winkel has been in use as a food product brands. I choose De Winkel with S in bottom is easy to spell and sound nice :) *cliche De Winkel is Dutch, is Store/Shop in english.
I offer to everyone who come in my store with any kind service, there's gonna be free coffee and original traditional snacks from where I live, free alternative tourism spot information, money change service with fair deal, I will make a collaboration with some hotels or bars.. my product is gonna be in good quality material with simple and elegance and looking good design of course.

    thankyou anyway :)

From what you are saying, you will have a bustling friendly shop! Traditional snacks and coffee sound great, there are times when tourists like to discover something of the places they visit. I grew up in Thailand, and the delights of the local food is one of the things I go back for (we never did things like that when I was a kid!)

No probs with DeWinkels, I speak Dutch - and one of my friend's fathers was the last governor in Indonesia ...

Now: my feelings are that you are onto something. My concern is that you find the styles of clothing that tourists want to buy, and you are going to have to keep a keen eye out for that.

Oh, and a place like yours would do very well on Facebook, especially with the younger generation who all have smartphones. Google Maps is also something for you to consider. That way, someone arriving in Djakarta and spending their first morning looking around can find your friendly hide-away where there is coffee, snacks and friendly advice from a local.

    Dear Mr. Moriarty..
Oh really what governor from where province your friends father?
What about investor? My money is not enough to covering all production cost to rent a store, I know I'm like an idiot, make a business with less resources. And tell me what can I do to make sure an investor to invest in my shop? Let me know the tips and tricks, I have a faith, my business run well..

    Thanks a bunch!

    Pop,
faith is great, but use it for things that have more value than business!

If you don't have a shop, what about a coffee stall in the street? They are everywhere in BKK and great for tourists. The other thing about having a stall is that you can get to know the shop owners - who may want to pass on their business to you in time. Because if you are starting with nothing, it's best not to invest too much. That way you can find out what sells and what doesn't - without risking your mental health!

I don't mean that harshly, I mean it because that is what I have done both with my ex and now for myself.

    Must dash to Utrecht. Mxx

I believe it was for Nieuw Guinea.

    Yup... I got the point.
Maybe i can press my cost in any lines without reduce the materials quality. Cut the production quantity is mean lift the prices?
