Branding And Marketing A Kindergarten

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
The enrollment rate of the kindergarten has dwindled so badly the centre is in the reds for a while. It is run like a missionary centre trying to serve the poor and underprivileged around the centre's neighborhood.

Facing the reality of running into the reds, the centre committee has decided they need to re-brand and market the kindergarten. The presence of the centre is almost zero besides small community around the area and some of the alumni's old girls.

How do we do branding for the centre?
What marketing tools should the centre use so as to minimize costs?

Let's take this from another angle. I want to know why people aren't using your kindergarten any more. It is possible that they don't need your services because they no longer have jobs - and the expense of the kindergarten cannot be justified when food comes first.

Have you any other clues as to why people are no longer bringing their children to you? Because this will give you - and us - a clue as to how this should be tackled. Advertising something that people no longer need won't help, or put better, won't help very much.

Sorry to be so down on this, it is something that is happening all around me too.

@Moriarty: The kindergarten started off with the vision and mission to serve mainly the poor and underprivileged. The neighborhood where the school is mainly consist of lower to middle income households and industrial plus a couple of corporate offices. There was never much marketing or if any to talk about, for the school. As such, the enrollment was never full.

However, situation is pressing that the school is running in the reds and something must be done. Therefore, they are hoping to do some real branding and marketing to increase their presence in not only their neighborhood but also nearby catchment areas.

The school has got good programs and infrastructure, but they do not know how to go about marketing them. moreover resources are limited therefore a need for low costs / cost effective marketing ideas.

    Thanks.

I am sure that you are serious in your intent. What I need to know - and what the others will also need to know (if they are to be of any help, that is) - is who your customer is and what they need of you. What are you providing that they need. Why should they come to you and not just sit at home and save their hard earned dosh?

Having great infrastructure isn't going to help the out of work mum who finds it hard enough to buy the evening meal on her husband's ever decreasing wages.

Any marketing you do without this basic information is likely to be ineffective. Any ideas that are both low cost and effective will address the above issues directly, head on. After all that is when you can get clever and really save money.

If people don't know about you, then they can't find you.
To have those you serve find you, you need to be where they are looking: online, churches, employers, newspapers, etc.
To save money, start by arranging one-on-one meetings with various community leaders in your area to both share your resource with their membership and also to find out how better to reach their members.
