How To Promote A New Distribution Company

Posted by paulus_ina on 250 Points
Hi. I need some help and idea...on how to promote a new distribution company selling to supermarket.

The product is fish stuff( meat balls ) that is very on demand in the market. We have an agreement with a very popular national outlet to distribute the meat balls.

Any ideas or marketing / promo program that you can share with us.

Thank you in advance.

I'm confused, are you selling/promoting meat balls but using fish instead of meat, and so they are fish balls?

If your product is in-demand, and you have a good supply of them, then why wouldn't supermarkets want to order from you? If you have good competition, then it's about what makes yours' better than theirs'.

Are they fish and shellfish from the ocean? Perhaps a combination of mixing both sea fish and shellfish? If so, you could also call them ...

    Sea Balls
    Ocean Balls
    Neptune Balls
    Triton Balls

I understand that your question is about promotion and distribution to supermarkets, but getting the best name for this segment is also a piece of the puzzle.

You are already supplying to supermarkets. Who is it specifically that makes the decision to buy from you? Because this is the crux of the issue. It isn't about passively waiting for them to call you, because they might - or they might not. After all, advertising is all about getting people interested, it isn't about waiting around.

I need to know who it is in the supermarket who makes the decision - and what kind of supermarket. My guess is that there are a lot of smaller businesses who could also use your services. My point is to find the kind of person and characterize them. Who are they, what are they doing and how can you save them time/money/energy? Are they satisfied with their current suppliers? If not, why not; if they are, how can you convince them that you're better?

Knowing these kinds of details about the people who are (not) buying from you will tell you a great deal about how to approach them through advertising. What's more, targeting the decision makers will reap huge rewards for you.

Dictionary.com defines Neptune as "(2.) the sea or ocean". Neptune is a synonym for "the sea or ocean".

Phil's post is both valid point and a misquote. And in reality, any name ending with the word "balls" could be "misconstrued" by some folks.
