Innovative Promotion Ideas For A Shopping Mall

Posted by fordwincher on 125 Points
Hello respected marketers!

I need fresh ideas of events and promotions for our shopping mall in Dubai. Our market consists of a lot of Emiratis, Asians and expat Arabs. We have done the usual like shop & win promotions, dance shows, acrobat shows, shows that celebrate special days like Valentines, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc. We feel the market is ready for something edgy and street-urban and we do not want to go into the usual route like what the other shopping malls did around the world. We are looking for something either the first mall that did it in UAE or in the region...or even in the world!

I am open to new ideas but they cannot be offensive to Islamic beliefs or Arabic culture.

Look forward to your responses.

Thanks!

Have you enough space for a swimming pool? Just how undressed are Emirates folks allowed to be (or comfortable with)?

How about a (fake) igloo? That would certainly be different, and cooling too (if refrigerated!)

Hi Moriarty! The mall has not enough space for a swimming pool and it is in a mixed-use property where there's already a pool at the residential side. We will have an indoor family entertainment centre with roller coaster rides and stuff.

As for the dress code, shorts are acceptable but not bikini shorts or the really short shorts. Sleeveless is also acceptable but not spaghetti strap or tube type ones.

Fake igloo was already done by another mall in Dubai and they used it during Christmas. It was mado of styro and for display only.

I guess it's okay to do something that's been done but it has to be implemented in a different way that it will grab attention and be talked about.

    Thanks!

So: make a list of everything that has been done - and do an anti-SWOT test on it. That is to say, find out what isn't there ... not what is ;-)
