Insurance Firms In Social Media

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have the task of creating multiple profiles for a medium sized insurance firm on all main social media.
Where should I emphasize on presenting the company on each social media site? (for instance, twitter mainly for updates/related links from the news, linkedin just as a main corporate profile, facebook for a mainstream connection media?)
It is the nature of the organization that makes me think twice about how I should go on and present it online.

Thank you for your time and your help.

What do you mean by "the nature of the organization"? What is it? Why are you thinking twice about it?

Agreed that insurance companies, and the like, require additional creativity in developing content for social media. Check out this video and case study for State Farm Insurance ...

"Buzz" requires something more than news/information. It requires something unexpected, emotional and/or funny, and a strong network to spread the buzz. Before you begin, start by polling your long-time customers, and ask them what networks they use, how they like to receive news, etc.

My take on this is that insurance companies deal with humans. If you reduce the news item to the elements that are human you have something that will make sense through social media. Then apply the ideas via your own thoughts on Linked-in and Facebook.

I see way too many sterile "newsy" posts on Facebook that simply don't get read!
