Project Management Software

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Our marketing firm currently uses EasyProjects.net as our project management software for entering and tracking all project timelines. We have investigated other options for quite some time now and are struggling to find a system that meets all our needs, including:
- Integrates with QuickBooks for timekeeping/invoicing/billing
- Allows managers to see overall workload of team members
- Allows managers and account team to see exact project status

What project management software does your company use? What do you like/dislike about it? What would you recommend?

Thank you!

BaseCamp and SharePoint both work well and are solid performers

"Allows managers to see overall workload of team members" is going to be a tough one depending on what you mean. I've used and can recommend Basecamp. I liked it because it provided a lot of value for the cost and I didn't have a huge number of clients/projects. I typically had myself as project leader, graphic artist, and two members of client team. As I recall, it did not include a stop/start time clock, which is now offered as a 3rd party plugin now. I was able to budget hours per task (hours more important than dollars for workers because they may not be privvy to rates) I stopped using because I got out of the industry (marketing) that required it.

other options: I couldn't find the other service I used, which charged per user with a 5 user suite minimum at about $450/mth. I'm pretty sure it evolved into this company https://www.workamajig.com/. Because of the billing aspect and cooler client collaboration 'work-pad', it was worth it. It also has integration to QB. The only reason I I changed and moved down to basecamp is because I was winding down my creative business to move on to another business endeavor, and basecamp was the short term solution to serve those clients. This solution has best user experience for both your business and your clients. The experience will likely increase retention. I consider the fees a worthy investment in the cost of doing business.

Function Point also has a QB plugin. I have no experience with them.
