    Larry, here are the questions + thinking I use when doing SWOT Analysis:

    STRENGTHS
    • Leverage Strengths.
    • These are internal / company / business strengths.
    • These help you achieve your objectives.
    • What do you do well?
    • What are you capabilities?
    • Your experience, knowledge, expertise?

    WEAKNESSES
    • Eliminate weaknesses.
    • These are internal / company / business weaknesses.
    • These deter you from achieving your objectives.
    • Where are the areas you struggle?
    • What do your customers complain about?
    • Gaps in capabilities?
    • Timescales, deadlines and pressures?

    OPPORTUNITIES
    • Take advantage of opportunities.
    • These are external, and out of your control.
    • These help you achieve your objectives.

    THREATS
    • Minimize threats.
    • These are external, and out of your control.
    • These deter you from achieving your objectives.
    • Are there trends that amplify your weaknesses?
    • Market demand?
    • Economy?
