Naming Your Company

I need some good ideas of how to name a new safety eyewear company. Also included in sales are sports eyewear and sunglasses. The majority are for prescription only.

    Who is the primary target audience? Where? What do you know about the target consumers -- needs, values, beliefs, awareness, attitudes, habits, practices, decision-making process, etc.?

    What unique and compelling benefit can your target audience expect if they do business with you? What makes you different from, and better than, their other options for eyewear?

    Our company will be targeting primarily manufacturers in the western region of the united states, but will include sales to the public via an online channel. We intend to help accounts to establish OSHA approved safety eyewear programs. Allowing companies to access online portals to place orders for their product, as well as to establish the capability to service onsite.

    Have you interviewed some of the people who might actually make a purchase decision at a target company? If not, I'd recommend you do so. Ask a dozen of the right people some high-gain questions to see how they think and what they say. Take good notes, and then report back here. They'll steer you toward the best names. (If too difficult for you, hire a market research professional to do it for you.)

    This is a decision that will be with you for a long time. Don't leave it to chance ... or to a bunch of marketers who have not familiarized themselves with your target audience.
