How To Choose And Use An Online Survey Service?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I want to make some good choices for merchandise and services for a maternity shop that I'm planning. I'd like to do some research online to complement local research. In addition to reactions to tangible products and services, I'm looking for more abstract info such as is there a color that pregnant women love or are sensitive to? or how do they feel about maternity wear?

Is there a website/online service where I can develop a questionnaire or other research tool for the service to carry out out the survey and provide me with the results without costing me huge bucks? How much would this type of service usually cost? and what are the things I need to consider when choosing an online survey service provider?

The process I think you are looking for involves a couple steps:
    1) You need to have a list of eMails. If you have a source, great! If not, you need to go to some of the “list houses” and purchase their services. There are a bunch of (permission-based, not SPAM) list suppliers out there (I’ve not used any of these personally, but perused their offering in a vein to see if it could possibly fit your needs):

https://www.inetgiant.com/email_blaster.html?source=goto&keyword=email+list – this appears to be more of a “promotions” kind of list supplier, but if you called them, maybe they can help for $20 per month with your survey, too

https://info.zoomerang.com/ This group can do lists for surveys – and they have software (for free to 100 respondents)

https://www.leads.cc/Emaillists.htm They appear to have standard lists – 2000 for $49, 5000 for $79, and specialty lists without clear pricing, or they can customize a list

https://www.surveypro.com/ - lists and for $499, they will provide software and support for 1000 respondents.

    2) Then, you need to put some thought into your survey. You get good data out of a survey by making sure the survey is designed well. Questions have to be concise and accurate to make sure you don’t get ambiguous results. For instance, simple things like demographics – Man/Woman (obviously, you will probably throw out the men!), age (throw out children and grandmothers), pregnant now (yes/no), city/state/country, etc so that you can review any differences in location, perhaps. And when you are looking for how your price compares to the competition and ask, “This price is about the same as the competition – 1= strongly agree, 5=strongly disagree” and the bulk of the respondents disagree, you might assume your price is too high, but in reality, you just know it’s different. Key to survey design is to pilot the survey to a small controlled sample to see if you are getting the results you want or if there is confusion. Since you have local survey capability, it seems this is easy for you.
    3) The third step in the process is two fold: finding software for the survey and analysis and finding a “host” to gather the data. Again, there are several suppliers at all different prices. Cheap is good, but you should evaluate these suppliers because ultimately, you get what you pay for! Caveat Emptor. FREE means you get very little support – YOYO – you’re on your own.

    https://www.websurveyor.com/ $1495/yr to $1995/yr

https://www.prestosurvey.com/ They say that many projects for can be done for $495

    https://www.vanguardsw.com/vista/ $195/mo

    https://www.smartsurveys.net/ 1mo free, 300 surveys, 3mo for $129

https://express.perseus.com/perseus/asp/login.aspx Free (it’s an “express” package similar to Outlook Express)

https://surveymonkey.com/ $19.95 for 1000 respondents. They also have links to all of the rest of the survey software competitors

So this gives you an plan of attack. You still have a lot of legwork to do! Hope this helps!
