How many days a week are hybrid workers being asked to go into the office? Which days are they most likely to go in? Why do employers ask workers to come into the office more often?

To find out, researchers at Cisco conducted a survey in April 2025 among 21,513 employers and employees in full-time roles across 21 markets globally.

The researchers found that 45% of workers now have a hybrid arrangement, down from 62% in 2022.

Some 46% of respondents say their organization has changed its policy to require more time to be spent in the office.

Some 21% of workers who are mandated to work from the office say they're required to go in two days a week and another 21% say they're required to go in three days a week.

Employees say they're most likely to work from the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Increased productivity and improved communication are the top factors employers cite as having influenced their decision to increase the amount of time workers must spend in the office.

About the research: The report was based on data from a survey conducted in April 2025 among 21,513 employers and employees in full-time roles across 21 markets globally.
