How do we differentiate our value proposition when every company offers its infrastructure, skills profile, quality systems and cost arbitrage as the best there is on offer ?

Focus on USABILITY. Deliver technology that WORKS. Build things a reasonably educated monkey can use.

My first business started out as documentation/training services for clients who were implementing new IT projects. We ended up with loyal clients who wouldn't even consider starting a new project without one of my employees on the team. None of us were programmers, but we were terrific at biz process analysis and software/web design. Many times, however, we came into a project too late -- clients paid us a lot of money undoing the damage of Accenture consultants, in the long run!

Seriously, you should take advantage of the market's skepticism of tech consultants. Companies have spent millions on SAP-scale implementations that didn't reap the benefits they expected. And people are tired of getting new systems that take forever to learn, or that require armies to support and maintain.

Of course, don't promise what you can't deliver!
