Sneak Peek At Our New Member Directory!

Posted by Valerie Witt on 0 Points
Hi guys! We're just about ready to release Version 1.0 of our new MarketingProfs Member Directory. Soon you'll see a link to it in the box to the right (under "Community Info"). There will also be a left navigation bar link on the MP homepage.

In the meantime, you can use this link:
https://www.marketingprofs.com/directory/search.asp

To be included in the Directory, just opt-in and fill out the "Required Information" section of the Edit Profile page in My Account.

Here's a link to your Edit Profile page:
https://www.marketingprofs.com/newprem/editaccount/acct_profile.asp

Notice that's a different page than the one for editing your KHE profile. We'll be more tightly integrating the two systems in Version 2.0.

We'll be adding new features to the profile page if we see lots of members opt-in. So be sure to let me know what you think. We can incorporate your ideas into Version 2.0. Happy New Year!

    Could use some additional information:

What's the benefit of the directory? Do you have plans to suggest ways to use it? Why might we want to be in the directory -- especially if we're already in the KHE directory?

Hi Michael. Actually, there is no KHE directory. Visitors can only view the Top 100 participants in KHE (out of thousands). And those profiles are not searchable.

It's intended as a community-building feature ... to facilitate networking. Specifically of interest to many KHErs, it's a way to find others in the same location (this comes up frequently as a request from forum participants).

Really a directory is just a compilation of profile pages and a search engine for filtering through them. On the other hand, KHE's profile pages are only reachable via a posting in the forum. The interfaces for these 2 systems are different, but the data is the same. (KHE profiles & Member Directory profiles)

One objective I have personally is trying to promote KHE a bit and encourage crossover. That's why KHE postings are included on the Member Directory profile pages of all forum participants. I'm hoping we'll raise awareness of KHE among the general population of MarketingProfs members.

    I hope this helps.

Found a problem (which happens on a lot of american sites):

I dont live in america so i dont have a State/Province. I cant complete the form because this is a required field.

Hi Carl. Good point! My fault. Please just enter "N/A" or "none" for now. That's important. I'll ask Aaron to fix that now.
