How To Attract Sponsors

Posted by Anonymous on 265 Points
I am helping a friend with a Youth Development Workshop for girls ages 10-16. I suggested that we find sponsors for the event. I have made several calls and some seem to be promising but I have not received any feed back yet. I plan to approach some companies around the neighboorhood. I also suggested we post information on community boards and parenting forums. For sponsoring the event we will feature the company on the website, on the event banner and dvd that we will be distributing to attendees and parents for $100.

Any ideas on finding sponsors and free postings for the event?

I think making a list of potential prospects would be a great place to start, then make 'sales' calls with the key decision makers. I know nobody likes to get out and sell, but it's the only way to acheive your goal. It's always the hardest part of raising funds, is to get out and get rejected. The 100 'no's' for the ten 'yes' es you need make it worthwhile.

Once you have 'sold' folks, make a list of buyers and save it for next year. At least you will have a list of 'warm' prosepcts for next year, and make the job easier.
