Know-How Exchange : SEO/SEM

I have limited experience with traffic exchange programs and none of it good. I think you do your due diligence to participate but not everyone is operating from the same sheet of music.

The ones I used gave points for each site that you visited. For the points you accumulated, you got an equal amount of traffic. There were bonus point opportunities, etc. but I found myself surfing through the sites quickly to get my points and paying very little attention to the content of the site. I started to realize that others were doing the same thing and although I was getting hits, they weren't quality hits. I experimented with several different programs and had the same experience with all of them.

I am certain the traffic exchange programs have evolved but the purpose is the same to create traffic from other people looking for traffic. The model seems flawed and thus, I don't believe it is a viable way to create quality traffic to your site.

I don't know of any success stories with traffic exchanges. I'm not a big fan of things I can't control, measure, and make adjustments to.

Conrad's post sounds intriguing though. If these exchanges are free or low cost I guess only your budget will determine how long you invest in this tactic that is less successful then others.

I suppose with the right volume of traffic even a blink squirrel could find a nut.

Traffic exchanges are worth a try, but I advice that you would still have to consider other tactics. One technique would not be enough to have the same traffic you wanted in your site. It is best if you would make other choices. There are actually a lot of credible strategies to gain traffic. Read articles about this one and you will learn a lot from it. =)
