How To Know Who Is Linking To Your Site

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
A while back, I read an article here that told how to use Yahoo to see what sites are linking to your site. I have forgotten how to do this and can't find the article. I really want to use this feature again. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

As long as I'm starting a thread, why not share any other techniques for analyzing the popularity of a website?

Go to the search engines you want to check, and type this line into the search bar

    link:www.the_website_you_want_to_check.com

that should show you who has linked to your web site.

    Another tool is: https://www.linkpopularity.com

    Hope this helps you.

Definately use Yahoo! to do the test, all search engines use the "Link:" command, but Yahoo! seems to bring back a more accurate count. Google uses filters and cache so you never see as many!

    Good Luck

If your not happy with what Yahoo! tells you, get in touch and I'll improve your links for you :-)

I've also been using a software package called Web CEO to track and analyze links. They also offer a free SEO course. I've been learning a lot of the basics from these guys. Feel free to click the link below to check out their site and perhaps grab the download for yourself.

If you use firefox then get this extension:

The SEO Links extension gives you tooltips specially enhanced for SEOs. When enabled, hovering any link in Firefox will show you Yahoo, MSN, and Google link popularity and ranking data for the URL and anchor text pair. For times you just want regular surfing and tooltips, the extension can be quickly toggled on and off in a single click.
