Locating Sic Codes To Understand Our Mkt

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have a list of accounts who have bought our product. The customers self selected the industry that they operated in. I want to standardize by SIC code to figure out who are customers are and get a better overview of our market and whether we are selling to early adopters or mainstream enterprise customers.

Does anyone know a good way to take a list of companies and addresses and find out their SIC codes. The software we have now is supposed to do this but does not. thanks!!

If the companies are public just look them up on EGAR.

Dunn and Bradstreet and Reference USA have listings of many companies and their SIC codes. These are subscription services.

The easiest (and most cost effective way) is to do a cross reference with info USA. For small quantities of responses, you can go through your local library. And for large cross references you can go through a direct mail house that offers NCOA services or go to info USA direct. The primary SIC code through them comes from their Yellow Page listing. Hope this helps.
