Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Planning on importing Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil and sell it directly by establishing a web site.
1. What would an appropriate name be ?
Some good names such as www.oliveoil.com, www.olivia.com, www.olivetree.com are taken...

2. Which web site is the best for selling olive oil products ? Or how can I find it ?

Thank you for your time and help.

Hey there VL, I just thought maybe the spanish versions of this word might help you a bit to make a decision.

    I personally like: www.olivo.com (oh-lee-voh)
which actually refers to the tree that gives olives.

    or www.oliva.com (Oh-lee-vah)
in spanish we say: Aceite (oil) de (of) Oliva (olive)..

i think both of these names, if branded correctly could actually become good choices. simple yet catchy in a way.

    hope this helps.

    Lagakis,

I purchase cases of extra virgin olive oil at https://www.sitiaonline.com/. We only consume Greek olive oil. For everyday consumption, we purchase Liorhri brand extra virgin olive oil. We also like to buy the award-winning Sitia brand, from Crete-- especially to give as gifts. I have also purchased Sitia from this Orthodox Monastery: https://www.monasteryproducts.org.

So, our family has a strong loyalty to Greek olive oil. Yes, I would encourage you to promote the region of Greece where the harvest takes place. It could lead to a creative and distinct brand name-- not to mention that it will instill trust among consumers.

To begin to market your oil in the US-- I suggest contacting the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese to get a calendar of all the Greek Festivals in major metropolitan markets (or Google the festivals online). You could work with the churches to promote your brand-- and even organize taste-tests at the Greek festivals. It would be a target-rich environment for you, for sure.

    Hi Lagakis,

What we are looking here is name your product and sale in the local and international market by web application.

As you know Olive oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the fruit of the Olive tree. When we think about the Extra-virgin olive oil then it comes as the first pressing of the olives, contains no more than 0.8% acidity, and is judged to have a superior taste. There can be no refined oil in extra-virgin olive oil. So what next……?

You need to choose the name containig the name “Oilve Oil”; You can choose the “Ancient Olive Oil” name for your website or “Ancient Greece OliveOil ” You can try some thing like Light or lite olive Oil for the name extention.

Or How about – Historical Places Name + Olive Oil (Athena olive Oil); I know in Greece they use for Religious festival?

    I hope this will help!

    Regards
