Local Organic Search

I know almost nothing about the mystery of search engines.

I would like some advice on how to raise my standing. I do adwords and I am number 1 on the search, but how should I go about getting my organic listing towards the top.

Any books or service ideas are welcome also.

    Hi Paul -

    Yeas ago I worked with Bill Hunt at Outrider - and International Interactive Marketing and Media Consulting firm. He got together with Mike Moran and wrote Search Engine Marketing, Inc.

    This book is excellent and I recommend it highly. Currently my Web site is #8 on Google for Online Strategic Consullting thanks to Bill's Book!

    HEALTH WARNING: Be careful of using third party tools to do the SEO job for you, some (and they wll remain nameless) have cuased people to be banned from big search engines in the past. Understand SEO before using these tools.

    I don't know what keyword you are bidding for with AdWords, but keep a close eye on costs and returns your getting, it is very easy for those costs to get carried away. I would also consider removing your reliance on PPC unless you have a new service or promotion. Definately use SEO instead.
