    Omar,

Meet their needs better then the competitors do - ALWAYS. Over them value consistently. Build relationships and maintain them. Make them #1 - treat them as though they are important to you. If you make a mistake, correct it quickly, do what it takes to make the customer "whole."

    I hope this helps.

Another approach is to offer a unique service, and target folks who have a need for just what you offer.

Adding to what was already stated, you've got to make sure you know what your customers' needs are in order to meet them. That sounds obvious, but companies often lose touch with that.

You don't attract a long time customer-- you create one-- one step at a time. You create them by being important to them. Make sure your customer service is exceptional, that they feel like a friend when they come in the door. My dry cleaner is no different than any other dry cleaner. But he knows me by name, always greats me with a smile and how are you. That little spark took me from my prior cleaner-- where I was nothing more than a number on a ticket.

To add to my post-- another key is to create TOMA, top of mind attitude. You don't list the business you are in, but whatever it is-- dry cleaning or real estate-- when your prospect thinks it-- they think of one person to call-- you.
